Pool Configuration

BRSC has a 25-yard by 25 meter, 196,000 gallon pool. It slopes from 3’ to 5’ of depth. Normal configuration of the pool yields 11 lap lanes and one walking lane. Instructional and competitive programming will restrict available lanes, depending on the day of the week and season. Reservation are required during Phase III.

BRSC has Something for Everyone in the water, too! Learning to swim is a valuable skill to learn and one that lasts a lifetime. From beginner and intermediate lessons to seasoned and competitive swimmers, you and your family will find the right fit for your needs here at our club.

BRSC is committed to providing aquatic programs that promote water safety, health and fitness as well as competitive training. Our programs are designed to focus on the life-long skill of swimming through group or private lessons.

Nation’s Capital Swim Club (NCAP)

NCAP offers 7 distinct training groups designed to meet the needs of a broad range of swimming skills and ages, from the entry-level competitive swimmer to the Olympic athlete. NCAP’s professional coaching staff is led by Head Coach Pete Morgan, whose credentials include training Olympians, national champions, and world record holders.

BRSC hosts the largest training site for the world renowned NCAP. The team enjoys exclusive team use of the Burke Racquet and Swim Club’s private, 12-lane by 25-yard facility.

    Competitive Stroke School

    NCAP's Competitive Stroke School held at BRSC is designed to assist the summer season competitive swimmer improve upon their skills during the off-season. Each 45-minute session will focus on the technique and refinement of skill to help participants improve their stroke. We welcome local summer league teams to join us during the off-season for a winter/spring of swimming.

    Class sizes are limited. There are no refunds, makeups or discounts

    Prerequisites:

    Each participant must be able to demonstrate correct arm and leg actions for each stroke as follows:

    Freestyle: 10 yards with side breathing and horizontal body
    Backstroke: 10 yards with side breathing and horizontal body
    Breaststroke: 6 yards with legal arms and kick
    Butterfly: 6 yards with legal stroke and kick

    Water Fitness

    Our water fitness program uses the resistance created by water to produce a workout more physically challenging than many land classes. These low-impact workouts are designed to improve muscle tone and aerobic fitness to achieve your goals. All exercise enthusiasts are welcome.

    Aquafit / members and their guests welcome

    Guests $12 per class

    Our Aquafit classes are an on-going program for our members. The 55-minute class features a low-impact, high intensity aerobic workout.

    Shallow Hydrofit / for everyone (Fee Based)

    Shallow Hydrofit is a 55-minute fee-based specialty water aerobics class for both members and drop-in participants. Alternatively, you may purchase a Hydrofit card, which is good for 8 classes.

    Deep Water Hydrofit /for everyone

    Hydrofit is a 55-minute fee-based deep water aerobics class for both members and drop-in participants. Alternatively, you may purchase a Deep Hydrofit card, which is good for 8 classes.

    Master Swim

    With over 25 years of fitness program experience and a world-class competitive swimming program, BRSC is proud of its affiliation with the L4 swimming program. Whether you’re enjoying a lunchtime workout, training as a triathlete to improve your swimming stroke and conditioning, or you’ve been a competitive swimmer in the past, we have has something to offer.

    In association with United States Masters Swimming, our program is guided by the simple concept of developing and maintaining fitness for life. From the latest training advances to the link with the renowned age group and senior swimming programs, each Masters swimmer has the opportunity to develop a fitness plan and progress at his/ her pace. Added benefits are motivated training partners and social and team building events akin to what many of us experienced and enjoyed in our high school and college years.
